Having a late night bbq on a warm summer night is a great way to spend the evening. This simple little addition means an end to cooking by flashlight or having to figure out how to get a lamp outside. The most basic form of bbq grill light is the clip on, gooseneck light. The flexible neck means that people can adjust the angle of the light to help them in the cooking process. The griller can choose where they want to place the light and it can easily be removed and placed somewhere else. This simple design is a cheap and reliable way to bring some light into nighttime grilling. Think of it as an outdoor extension of that reading light you use in your bedroom.

There is another kind of bbq grill light that comes in the shape of a long cyclinder that can be attached to the handle of a barbeque's lid. The light shines directly on the food when the lid is opened, allowing the chef to see what they are doing. The light bulbs most commonly used with these kinds of lights are LED or halogen bulbs since each type has a long lifespan and provide a lot of light. This kind of bbq grill light requires batteries so it might be a better idea to use LED light bulbs since they use less energy. These aren't cheap, however; they can run over 300 dollars for the top units in the class! That might be even more than your entire barbecue setup cost in the first place! For that money, you might actually want to consider installing a light off of the side of your house.

If a person wishes to place their bbq grill light close to the heat they should look into lights made of stainless steel that come with heat resistant covers for the light bulbs. For people who will not put the bbq grill light near the fire, a simple aluminum light should do the trick. Aluminum is nice a durable so it should be able to handle the elements of the outdoors. A plastic grill light is not the best choice since plastic is not the most weather resistant material available.
